The dictator said that he had demanded that Putin hand over nuclear weapons to Belarus and that some of them had already been deployed in the country.
"I demanded from Putin - give me back my nuclear weapons. I don't need strategic weapons, tactical ones are enough. We have received missiles and bombs from Russia - a bomb 3 times more powerful than the one in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It will kill a million people at once, and God forbid we use this weapon," he said.
He noted that when all the promised nuclear weapons are transferred to Belarus, they will be placed in storage facilities throughout the country.
Answering Skabeeva's question whether Belarus would use it if "necessary," Lukashenko said that if necessary, "it isn't a problem to coordinate some kind of strike with Russia."
Vladimir Putin, Russian President said that a storage facility for Russian tactical nuclear weapons would be completed in Belarus by July 1. Later, Lukashenko announced his readiness to accept strategic nuclear weapons from Russia, if necessary.
On June 13, Lukashenko said that nuclear weapons could be used from the territory of Belarus only in case of a direct threat to his country.
In turn, Viktor Khrenin, Belarusian Minister of Defence said that the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in the country would help "cool down the military rhetoric" of the West and Ukraine.
Later, Putin said that Russia would deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus after July 7-8, when the necessary facilities would be prepared.
