Lithuania's Defense Ministry signs contract for purchase of kamikaze drones for Ukraine
On Friday, the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania signed a contract with a Polish company for the purchase of kamikaze drones for Ukraine
This is reported by the Delfi portal.
It is noted that the money donated by Lithuanian citizens will be used to purchase Warmate unmanned systems from the Polish company WB Group, and they will be transferred to Ukraine.
Deputy Minister Wilyus Semyashka previously reported that two complete sets will be purchased in Poland, including a launcher and 37 units of flying ammunition, so-called kamikaze drones. According to him, the purchased drones can carry explosives and destroy tanks and command posts.
Manufacturers are expected to deliver these systems in October-November.
It is known that the Warmate kamikaze drones weigh about 5.7 kg, can operate at a distance of up to 30 km and attack at a speed of 150 km/h.
Funds for the drones were collected by the founder of the Laisves TV channel Andryus Tapinas. His Legion of Boom initiative has raised more than 2 million euros, half of which will be allocated to purchase the Warmate system.
