President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda has arrived in Kyiv on Ukrainian Statehood Day, and plans to present Lithuania's highest state award to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

Nauseda shared the news on Twitter.

"Just arrived in Kyiv. On this special day, as Ukraine celebrates the Day of Statehood for the first time, will address Ukrainian people at the Verkhovna Rada. Will also meet President Zelenskyi, present him with the Order of Vytautas the Great - the highest Lithuanian state decoration," Nauseda noted.

It is known that on August 24, 2021, on the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the establishment of a new holiday - the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, which will be celebrated on the day of Baptism of Kyiv Russ.

On May 31, 2022, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada established that July 28 will be a holiday in Ukraine - the Day of Ukrainian Statehood.
