"Lithuania sends Ukraine technologies that help on the modern battlefield. It is important to understand that today's war requires modern technologies, such as anti-drones or other modern equipment," said Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.
"And the generators are being sent with the thought of the inexorable approach of winter, which is likely to be difficult," he added.
The ministry recalled the statement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi that Ukraine is in dire need of advanced technologies: drones, electronic warfare equipment and demining equipment.
The ministry noted that this year, Lithuania has already provided Ukraine with Mi-8 helicopters, L-70 anti-aircraft guns with ammunition, M113 armoured personnel carriers, millions of rounds of ammunition, grenade launcher ammunition, and radar equipment - a total of €1 billion, or 1.2% of GDP.
On October 5, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonite said that the country's 2024 budget expenditure plan would include support for Ukraine worth €340 million.
On October 11, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence announced that it would transfer two NASAMS air defense launchers to Ukraine.
