Lawyer, athlete from Vinnytsia Serhiy Yarmolenko killed in war

In February 2022, Serhiy  joined the 207th Territorial Defense Battalion, 241st Brigade, to defend Ukraine. Later he performed combat missions in the Donetsk region. He was a junior lieutenant in a fire support company.

In 2022, the soldier received the For Defense of Ukraine award from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

Before the full-scale invasion, he was engaged in lawyer's activities, was the coordinator of the international cooperation of the Expert Committee on the Development of Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry of Digital Transformation. He also loved running and participated in many charity marathons.

Serhiy's funeral will take place on Independence Square in Kyiv, approximately on September 14. The time will be announced later.

• On August 23, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the European Solidarity party, Serhiy Ilnytsky, was killed in action in Donbas. At the front, he was the commander of the South unit of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army.
