Kyslytsya: This UN General Assembly session should put an end to Russia's impunity
The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly began in New York. In Ukraine, they say that it should put an end to Russia's impunity.
Sergiy Kyslytsya, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, reports on Twitter.
According to him, the war must end during this session, and Russia must be held accountable.
“Let’s make the 77th session of the UN General Assembly the session of the end of impunity and restoration of respect for the UN Charter. The choice is yours, UN Members!” - Kyslytsya noted.
The new session was opened by Chaba Kereshi, the head of the General Assembly. He emphasized the need to stop the war in Ukraine and respect the principles of the UN Charter.
"This war must be stopped. It kills people, it kills development, it kills nature and it kills the dreams of millions," added the head of the General Assembly.
This session will be held under the slogan "The Tipping Point: Transformative Solutions for Interrelated Challenges". And the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine will be one of the most important issues of the UN General Assembly.
The high-level week, in which the heads of state participate, will be held from September 20 to 26. These days, the presidents, prime ministers, heads of foreign policy departments of all 193 member states of the Organization are scheduled to speak directly from the UN podium or in virtual mode. Ukraine's performance is expected on September 21 after 22:00 Kyiv time. Bilateral meetings at the highest level will also take place.
