Kyiv region locals hid Russian SAM, missiles for 1.5 years, now face 7 years in prison
Two residents of the Boryspil district of Kyiv region are suspected of illegally obtaining and storing Russian TOR missile system and anti-aircraft missiles: the seized ammunition was handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
This was reported by the police of Kyiv region.
According to the investigation, a 38-year-old and a 45-year-old man illegally obtained Russian weapons left by the occupiers during the hostilities in Chernihiv region.
"At first, the police found and seized a TOR surface-to-air missile system, which one of the offenders was hiding in Brovary district. After a series of operational and search activities, law enforcement officers managed to establish the location of the ammunition for the system – it was stored by the second offender in a rented garage," the statement said.
Also, 2 sections with 8 anti-aircraft missiles were seized from the men. They are intended for air and missile defense.
The residents of the Boryspil district were served with a notice of suspicion on the fact of storage and transfer of ammunition without a permit (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code). The article provides for up to 7 years in prison. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.
The police added that, by court order, the missiles, worth about UAH 30 million, were transferred to the needs of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and shall not be criminally punished until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine seized a weapons cache from a resident of the frontline village of Ukrainka, Kherson region. He tried to sell the trophy weapons of the Russian forces to local criminals.
