Kremlin tries to open second front on Balkan Peninsula - Balkan Observer project head
Natalia Ishchenko, head of the Balkan Observer project, believes that Russia can use the situation on the Balkan Peninsula to open a second front in Europe.
She expressed her opinion on Espreso TV.
“It seems to me that Russia sees Europe as a big chessboard, on which the West makes its moves, and they make theirs. And the confrontation between Serbia and Kosovo is a kind of confrontation between the West and Russia. In Ukraine, it is often said that Russia is trying to divert the attention of the West from the war in Ukraine. However, this is not the case,” Ishchenko explained.
The head of the Balkan Observer project emphasized that Russia can open a second front in Europe by using the confrontation between Serbia and Kosovo.
“The West and Russia consider the Balkan Peninsula as a separate case. Events in Ukraine and the Balkan Peninsula are developing in parallel. There is no shifting of attention from the war in Ukraine. However, Russia still seems to be trying to open a second front on the Balkan Peninsula,” she added.
