Kremlin slams security guarantees for Ukraine as threat to Russia
The Russian president's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has called the new project of security guarantees for Ukraine a threat to Russia
This is reported by the Russian mass media.
"No one hides that in this document they mean guarantees until the moment Ukraine joins NATO. That is, the benchmark for membership in NATO remains. Accordingly, the main threat to our country remains. And one of the reasons remains, and even becomes very relevant, which made it necessary to carry out a "special military operation", - said Peskov.
According to him, the new project of security guarantees is not related to the one discussed in March 2022 during the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul.
"Security guarantees also appeared there, although under a completely different text. Which, by the way, was initiated. But the Ukrainian side refused its visa under this text and this process has already been completed," Peskov noted.
He emphasized that Moscow's reaction to the signing of a new project of security guarantees will be negative.
