Russian media reported on Pekov's statement.
He made the statement responding to the information that Ukraine will receive missiles with a range of 150 km as part of a new USD 2.2 billion military aid package.
According to Peskov, the supply of longer-range missiles will not change the course of the "special military operation," as the war against Ukraine is defined in Russia.
"We will fulfill our tasks, which were outlined by the head of state. The 'special operation' will continue," Peskov said.
He added that the provision of longer-range missiles by Washington would lead to an escalation on the battlefield and build up tension.
- On February 1, media reported that the US would soon announce a new military aid package for Ukraine, which would include longer-range missiles.
