Kremlin launches psychological operations campaign about nuclear weapons in Ukraine - InformNapalm
On October 23, 2022, Russian state information and propaganda agency RIA Novosti published an article titled "The Kyiv regime is preparing a provocation with a 'dirty bomb' in Ukraine"
It is about an allegedly real joint Ukrainian-British development, behind which the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally stands.
“The Kyiv regime is preparing a provocation on the territory of its country, connected with the detonation of a so-called dirty bomb or a low-power nuclear munition,” Russian propagandists note.
“The purpose of the provocation is to accuse Russia of having used weapons of mass destruction in the Ukrainian theater of war, and thereby launch a powerful anti-Russian campaign in the world aimed at undermining trust in Moscow,” RIA Novosti says.
The Russians claim that the "dirty bomb" is supposedly being manufactured under the leadership of the Kyiv Institute of Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine at the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant, located in the city of Zhovti Vody, Dnipropetrovsk region.
As the Russians say, this is being done "on behalf of Volodymyr Zelenskyy" and thanks to "contacts with representatives of Great Britain."
At the same time, anonymous "sources" were named as the source of such information.

According to the assessment of the international OSINT community InformNapalm, the publication of RIA Novosti "has clear signs of an element of an informational and psychological operation, the purpose of which is to prepare the public of the Russian Federation for the use of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine."
“At the same time, a "smoke screen" is being created around such a potential decision by the Kremlin with the traditional Russian propaganda "conspiracy theory", as if it will be "the detonation of a dirty bomb to accuse Russia of all mortal sins". A typical technique for the opposition: "We attacked to protect" , "Ukraine is shooting at itself to blame Russia", "Ukrainians are killing and raping themselves to offend the Russians", etc. in the same style of broken cause-and-effect relationships,” a comment from InformNapalm says.
“Of course, the news from RIA Novosti is not aimed at a foreign audience, but specifically at a domestic audience. The next stage of this operation will depend on both external and internal restraining factors,” OSINT investigators conclude.
