Russian army loses 880 soldiers, 25 artillery systems and 11 tanks in one day of war with Ukraine - General Staff

This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on March 8.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to March 8, 2024, amounted to:

General Staff's report: Ukraine's Defense Forces repel Russian attacks in 7 directions over the day

According to the General Staff, the operational situation has not changed in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched 2 attacks near the town of Synkivka, Kharkiv region, trying to improve their tactical position.

In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 13 Russian attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and 3 more settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian defense forces repelled 6 attacks near Andriivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 23 attacks near Berdychi, Tonenke, Orlivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces keep holding back the Russian troops near Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops 27 times.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled two attacks near Robotyne and west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold their positions. Despite significant losses, the Russian army keeps trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. Over the past day, they carried out 3 unsuccessful assault attempts.

Russian army launches 4 missile and 74 air strikes against Ukraine

Over the past day, there were 86 combat clashes. In total, Russia's army launched 4 missile and 74 air strikes, and 101 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

At night, Russian occupying forces attacked Ukraine with 37 Shahed UAVs. The Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 33 of these attack UAVs.

Over the past day, 1 settlement in Sumy region, 3 in Kharkiv region, 16 in Donetsk region, and 2 in Zaporizhzhia region were subjected to Russian air strikes.

Over 150 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukraine destroys two Russian air defense systems and a fuel and lubricant depot

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 11 concentrations of Russian personnel. 

Ukrainian missile troops struck a Russian personnel concentration, 2 air defense systems, an electronic warfare station and a Russian fuel and lubricant depot.

• Over  March 7, 70 combat clashes took place at the front. Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 Russian attacks in the Avdiivka direction, and the aviation struck 11 Russian personnel concentrations.
