Russian army loses 5 tanks and 820 servicemen in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

This is stated in the morning report of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.

The total combat losses of the Russian Federation from February 24, 22 to January 09, 24 are approximately as follows:

• personnel - about 365,990 (+820) people.

Situation at the frontline: Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 58 attacks over the last day, mostly in the Avdiivka and Kherson directions

Thus, according to Ukraine's General Staff, the operational situation has not changed in the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukraine repelled 5 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, 2 Russian attacks east of Terny, Donetsk region, were not successful either.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders fended off 2 hostile attacks near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, Ukrainian defenders are deterring the Russian army, which is trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the Russian troops. Thus, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three Russia’s attacks near Avdiivka, Sieverne, Tonenke and another 15 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in Donetsk region over the last day.

In the Marinka direction, the Defense Forces are holding back the Russian aggressors in the areas of Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 12 attacks were repelled.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army did not conduct offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukraine's defense forces repulsed seven Russian attacks south of Chervone, west of Verbove and north of Novoprokopivka.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders are expanding their foothold. Despite significant losses, the Russian troops are trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. Over the past day, they made 12 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the Russian forces along the entire front line.

Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and aircraft: Ukrainian Armed Forces hit Russian ammunition depots

In total, the Russian forces launched 55 missile strikes and 22 air strikes, fired 35 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukraine's troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Six settlements in the Kharkiv region, one in Donetsk region and one more area in Luhansk region were hit by air strikes.

About 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

At the same time, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 18 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles over the past day. Missile troops destroyed 2 Russian ammunition depots.
