Rubio: Russia has lost 100,000 soldiers killed this year; Ukrainian losses lower
Since the beginning of 2025, Russia has lost 100,000 soldiers killed in the war against Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated this at a press conference following a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to Dzerkalo Tyzhnia.
“It is important to note that just since January of this year, for example, Russia has lost 100,000 soldiers—not wounded, but killed. On the Ukrainian side, the losses are smaller, but still significant,” Rubio said.
He noted that U.S. President Donald Trump wants to end this war.
“As he has said from the very beginning, his main goal here is to stop the loss of life and the destruction that continues every day,” the U.S. Secretary of State added.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, following the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stated that Russia had proposed “a new and different approach” to resolving the war against Ukraine, but did not specify what this entailed.
