The posting says that on the third Wednesday of January, the world celebrates the Day of Museum Selfies, when you can come to any museum and take a picture with your favourite exhibit for free, but this year, the institution can not hold this event, because many exhibits were taken by the occupiers, and the building is under restoration.
The administration invites visitors to send photos from past years to support the Kherson Art Museum.
"Your selfies taken in the museum before the full-scale war, before the occupation of Kherson, are historical documents. Share them with the museum and the whole world!" the message reads.
Under the terms of participation, on January 18, you need to post old photos from the museum on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with the hashtags #MuseumSelfie #MuseumSelfieDay2023 #art_museum_ks. The institution, in turn, promises to collect all the photos on the official pages of the museum.
The report also notes that the symbol of Museum Selfie Day from the Kherson Art Museum - a bust of a young girl by Florentine sculptor Emilio Fiaschi - was also taken by the occupiers under the guise of "evacuation".
