Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about it.

"I welcomed Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa to Ukraine. We agreed to start negotiations on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees in the development of the G7 Declaration," the president wrote.

He also thanked Japan for remaining a key partner in Asia and supporting Ukraine.

Earlier, the press service of the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine reported on the visit.

Yoshimasa and representatives of Japanese companies met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. During the meeting, it was revealed that Japan had provided Ukraine with $2.1 billion in macro-financial assistance.

"Big business in Japan is interested in long-term cooperation with Ukraine... I thanked Japan for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for financial and humanitarian support, for sanctions against Russia," Shmyhal wrote.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Japanese Foreign Minister discussed the prospects for cooperation in housing reconstruction, ensuring global food security, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and humanitarian demining.

"We are creating a favorable business climate for attracting investment. We hope that Japanese companies will become residents of Diia.City, a space that offers unique legal and tax advantages," added Shmyhal.

At the same time, Yoshimasa Hayashi noted that Japan will donate 24 cranes for humanitarian demining to Ukraine. Japanese entrepreneurs, in turn, presented specific cooperation projects, particularly in the areas of communications, infrastructure, and medicine.

Japan's top diplomat has also visited the memorial to the victims of the Russian invasion in Bucha, the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine reports.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the minister will meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and talk about Japan's plans to organize a conference on Ukraine's economic recovery.

Japanese businessmen, including Hiroshi Mikitani, founder and CEO of Rakuten Group (4755.T), are to come along with the minister to offer ideas for Ukraine's reconstruction.

  • The day before, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the illegal pseudo-elections to local parliaments in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
