Italy wants to extend decree on supply of weapons to Ukraine for the whole 2023
Head of Ministry of Defense of Italy, Guido Crosetto, officially confirmed that government of his country soon plans to ask parliament to approve new decree on military and civilian supplies to Ukraine during next year
Reuters reports.
Italian government can always send aid to Ukraine without asking for parliament's permission, based on a decree that expires at the end of 2022.
Ministry of Defense will soon propose to renew this measure, extending it to all 2023.
According to Guido Crosetto, Rome will continue to supply weapons, as before, "at that time and in that ways", which it will agree with Atlantic allies and Ukrainian authorities.
As already mentioned earlier, representative of ruling coalition recently confirmed to Reuters news agency that Italian authorities are preparing new package of weapons for Ukraine, including air defense systems, which Ukrainian side specifically requested.
It is important to understand that Crosetto belongs to "Brothers of Italy", right-wing party of new Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, which is strong supporter of Ukraine.
