Italy, France prepare to hand over SAMP/T systems to Ukraine

He said this in a statement to the Corriere della Sera.

"In cooperation with France, we are finalizing the shipment of SAMP/T, and other actions are planned, which we are working on in confidence," the minister said.

Tajani also emphasized that "Italy supports all possible ways to achieve peace in Ukraine, which means its independence and territorial integrity."

It is noted that Italy has already provided Ukraine with 5 packages of military assistance worth about 1 billion euros, and that a sixth package is currently being prepared, which includes air defense systems.

Earlier, the media reported that Italy would provide Ukraine with SAMP/T batteries. "Strong pressure from Washington" helped to speed up the decision to transfer the batteries to Ukraine.
