It takes a week to retrain, learn to use M777 howitzers - 128th brigade fighter

Ukrainian soldier Oleksandr, an artillery battalion officer, describes how they work with howitzers to neutralise Russian forces.

The 128th bridage shared the story, Espreso.West reports.

"We are currently fighting with guns, 152 caliber howitzers. They are Soviet-style, but effective; we use them to hit Russian columns and individual targets at a 20 km distance.

British M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, which are much more high-precision and long-range, are already coming to Ukraine from the United States. Are our guys ready to learn how to use them? Yes," said the military.

He noted that the difference is in operation.

"We have a system for measuring angles (goniometer) for 6,000 divisions, and they for 6400. The greater the distance, the better precision. For artillery attendants to work panorama 6000 or 6400 doesn't make a difference, they will learn it quickly. But the system determining the coordinates which involves officers' skills is different.

But this is not a problem either as the software allows us to calculate the coordinates of the NATO system. Therefore, retrain and learn how to shoot a howitzer M777 can take a week or two," he said and added if taught from scratch, it needs more time, however ready to develop any necessary new skills.

The Ukrainian defender Oleksandr is from Great Bychkova, Transcarpahian region. He graduated from the school-lyceum in Uzhgorod, chemical and biological direction. He entered the National Academy of the Army.
