It is extremely important not to roll back decentralization reforms during urban reconstruction - International Summit of Mayors founder

Iryna Ozymok, founder of the International Summit of Mayors, believes that it is now  important to ensure mayoral and governmental authorities have a coordinated position in the search for financial assistance for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities

She expressed her opinion on Espresso.

"First of all, the war became a test for us to what extent we can unite, but at the same time it did not fundamentally change the situation. I think the only thing that every mayor, every president, every resident needs to remember is that we are all ambassadors of Ukraine. Being in the country or abroad, we shape the image of Ukraine. And when we ask for money today to rebuild Ukrainian cities, we have no right to show any conflicts and quarrels. That is why it is important when mayors and the government ask for help and look for money to rebuild cities, so that their positions are coordinated," noted the founder of the International Summit of Mayors.

Iryna Ozymok added that meetings with urban planners and urban planning experts confirmed the extremely positive effect of the decentralization reform, as well as the importance of not rolling it back.
