Invictus Games 2023: Ukraine's national team wins 25 medals in four days of competition

As a result of four days of competition at the Invictus Games 2023 in Düsseldorf, the national team of Ukraine won 7 gold, 13 silver and 5 bronze medals

This was reported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.

"The Invictus won gold medals in such sports as shot put, rowing on rowing machines for four and one minutes, 100 m freestyle and 50 m backstroke. Silver - for discus throwing, long jump, powerlifting, rowing on machines for four and one minutes among women, and swimming. Bronze - for results in athletics (100 m run), discus throw, swimming (50 m breaststroke, 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke)," the statement said. 

Nazar Voznyuk won gold in the 100m freestyle in the ISC category with a time of 1:09:20, while Yevhen Kireyonok took seventh place in the ISE category with a time of 1:09:81. In addition, Voznyuk won another gold medal in the ISC category in the 50-metre backstroke, with a time of 43:66. Oleh Dolzhok competed in the same category and took fifth place with a time of 54:49.

Dmytro Polovyan won bronze in the 50m backstroke in the ISB category. He finished the race with a time of 1:17:08. At the same time, Volodymyr Hera took fourth place with a time of 1:29:35. Oleksandr Budko won his first medal, a bronze, in the 50-metre freestyle in the ISB category. He finished with a time of 50:98.

In the ISD category, Ivan Moldun won silver in the 50-metre freestyle (59:49), Dmytro Polovian won bronze (1:10:71), and Ihor Derman took seventh place with a time of 1:37:58.

"The participants also won silver in the swimming relay. Ukrainian team swam the 4 x 50-metre relay. Nazar Voznyuk, Oleksandr Ponomaryov, Yevhen Kireyonok and Ihor Derman finished the course with a time of 2:11.80. As a result, Yevhen Kireyonok took fifth place in the 50-metre breaststroke with a score of 40.45, and eighth place in the 50-metre freestyle with a score of 33:54," the Ministry of Veterans said.

Yulia Payevska took second place in the 50-metre freestyle among women in the ISD category. She covered the distance in 45:22 seconds. Yulia Shevchuk took fourth place in the ISD category among women in the 50-metre freestyle with a score of 1:21:07, and third place in the 50-metre backstroke, finishing the distance in 1:24:87 minutes.

Dmytro Kozak and Oleksandr Ponomaryov reached the quarterfinals in table tennis. In the first doubles match, they defeated the Georgian participants with a score of 11:7 and advanced to the quarterfinals in table tennis. Then they defeated teams from New Zealand, Canada, and Australia. In the quarterfinals, they lost to Israel with a score of 9:11.

The Ukrainian national team also played a wheelchair basketball match against Australia, which ended with a score of 8:6 in favor of Ukraine.

As a result, on the fourth day of the competition, the Ukrainian team won 8 medals: two gold, and three silver and bronze medals each.
