Invading Russian forces launch over 500 S-300 missiles against Ukraine, have thousands more - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared the report as of 06:00 on August 4 regarding the Russian invasion.

It was noted there that the Russian invaders  continue to concentrate efforts on establishing full control over the territory of the Donetsk region, maintaining the seized districts of the Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions.

"Offensive actions continue in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions. The Russians continue to actively use air defense means to cover their troops. They conduct aerial reconnaissance with high intensity using UAVs. The Russian invaders are trying to improve the logistical support of their troops. Over the past day, the enemy has fired more than 10 missiles and launched more than 24 airstrikes on military and civilian objects on the territory of our state. In particular, civilian infrastructure was affected in the areas of Peremoha, Husarivka, Novomykhailivka, and Bilohiria settlements. The threat of systematic massive air and missile strikes against military and critical infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine continues," the General Staff wrote.

The Ukrainian military notes that due to the lack of high-precision weapons, the invading Russian forces began to use outdated S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles more often.

"More than 500 such missiles have been launched on the territory of Ukraine, some of which did not reach the target. The occupiers have several thousand such missiles, but most of them are unusable," the General Staff added.

They also note that the situation in the Volyn and Polissya directions remains without significant changes.

In other directions, the Russians attacked military and civilian infrastructure using tanks, combat vehicles, barrel, and rocket artillery, in particular:

- in the Seversk direction - settlements of Mikhalchyna Sloboda in the Chernihiv and Stukalivka in the Sumy regions;

- in the Kharkiv direction - Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv, Slatyne, Sosnivka, Uda, Petrivka, Velyki Prohody, Staryi Saltiv, and Andriivka;

- in the Slovyansk direction - Bohorodychne, Dolyna, and Krasnopillya;

- in the Kramatorsk direction - Slovyansk, Siversk, Raihorodok, Donetske, Ivano-Darivka, and Vesele;

- in the Bakhmut direction - Zaitseve, Bakhmutske, Soledar, Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, and Rozdolivka;

- in the Avdiivka direction - Avdiivka, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Vodiane, and Pervomaisk;

- in the Novopavlivka direction, the Russian invaders did not carry out active offensive actions, but shelled the regions of Krasnohorivka and Orlivka settlements;

- in the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian enemy shelled the areas of the settlements of Bilohiria, Olhivske, Zelene Pole, Novopillya, Novosilka, and Vremivka;

- in the Southern Bug direction, the Russians launched shelling along the entire line of contact, as well as attempted to provide logistical support for their troops.

"The units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold their positions and do not allow the enemy to advance deep into the territory of our State. The Defense Forces managed to successfully repel enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Bohorodychne, Pasika, Dolyna, Bakhmut, Pokrovske, Bakhmutske, Pisky, and Pervomaisk. During the day, to support the actions of ground groups, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched 6 strikes aimed at hitting the enemy's manpower, combat and special equipment, means of radio-electronic warfare, air defense, and logistical support. The information on losses is being clarified," the Ukrainian Armed Forces wrote.

The General Staff assured that the missile troops and artillery of the ground troops would continue to carry out the tasks of counter-battery combat and violation of the enemy's control system and logistical support.

"As a result of the fire impact over the past day, damage was inflicted on the enemy control post, as well as the areas of concentration of combat equipment and personnel of the tank battalion. The Zoopark counter-battery radar station, the Zhitel electronic warfare station, and a large number of the Russian occupiers' manpower were destroyed," the General Staff concluded.
