Informant collecting data on AFU under guise of IDP detained in Lviv

Ukraine's Security Service has detained a resident of the Mykolaiv region who was collecting data on the Armed Forces under the guise of an internally displaced person in Lviv

Espreso reports that, according to the intelligence service, the woman is the sister of another traitor to the Motherland who was recently detained by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).

“She was remotely involved in cooperation in October last year. SBU counterintelligence officers documented that the suspect was collecting intelligence on the locations and movements of the Defense Forces in Lviv. To disguise her intelligence activities, the woman posed as an internally displaced person from the frontline areas of southern Ukraine,” the statement says.

As the investigation established, the informant often visited the area near the locations of military formations and made notes on electronic maps. Subsequently, she tried to transfer the collected data to Russia via messenger.

“However, SBU officers were proactive - they timely exposed the criminal, documented her criminal actions and detained her on her attempt to transfer intelligence to the aggressor. During the search, the SBU seized computer equipment and seven mobile phones. One of them had evidence of criminal activity,” the SBU said.

The woman was served a notice of suspicion of disseminating information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' location and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, if it is possible to identify them on the ground (Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court also imposed a custodial measure of restraint on her. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
