Last week, representatives of the IMF and the Ukrainian authorities announced that they had reached a staff-level agreement on the approval of an Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for Ukraine. The financing is expected to support the Ukrainian authorities and consolidate policies that support fiscal, external, price and financial stability. In addition, the program is expected to contribute to Ukraine's long-term growth during the post-war reconstruction phase and on its path to EU accession. It is meant to last for four years and will be implemented in two phases. To launch this instrument, a decision of the IMF Executive Board is required.
