Zelenskyy said this in an interview for CBS News.
"I believe that if Ukraine receives tanks from the USA, the EU will also help de-occupy Ukrainian cities with them," the president said.
He also emphasized the need not to trust false Russian narratives that "tanks are necessary for Ukraine to shoot at Russia."
"Our task is to protect our territory. We do not need a foreign country, we do not need a foreign nation. We want to protect our land and save our people," the head of state added.
Zelenskyy also noted that, in addition to tanks, Ukraine needs even more artillery and air defense systems to "protect infrastructure, hospitals, schools and universities."
