If Russia violates potential peace deal, it will face conflict with all guarantors — Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that if a peace agreement is reached and subsequently violated, Russia will face a response from the countries involved in securing the agreement
He made this statement during a joint press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
Macron also discussed the idea of deploying peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
Macron stated that he had held negotiations with all of their allies and that several European and non-European countries were ready to participate in these efforts. He noted that some of them continued to support the Ukrainian army, maintain its capabilities, and ensure a long-term presence, whether in terms of troop numbers or equipment.
He expressed his belief that Europeans would take responsibility, demonstrate solidarity, and show deterrence capabilities.
According to him, this implied that there was an agreement for which they were the guarantors, and if Russia violated it, it would, by default, enter into conflict with all those committed to the peace process. He emphasized that this marked a significant change, as such an approach had not been taken in recent years, nor in 2014, making it a real breakthrough.
