This was announced by Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Kornichuk, The Jerusalem Post reports.
The system identifies missiles and shells of all kinds and projects where they will fall, thus identifying and reducing the area where residents may be in danger. It also calculates how much time people in danger zones have to find shelter.
"Hopefully, they will finalize [the warning system] quickly, and we can copy-paste it to all major cities," the ambassador said. According to him, the system is planned to be used in cities with a population of more than a million.
"This is very important for our civilian and military infrastructure," Kornichuk added. "This equipment will allow us to save lives."
Ukrainians have been asking Israel to provide a missile warning system after a full-scale Russian invasion. The previous government had promised this system to Ukraine, but the ambassador noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had personally worked to ensure the quick completion of this project.
Israel's early warning system combines the use of radar and optical devices to detect missile and drone launches. It identifies the size of objects and determines potential threats. The information is then displayed on an electronic map, and citizens are notified of the threat by phone, radio, television, or siren.
In 2022, Israel promised to specially develop and supply Ukraine with civilian warning systems. In January, Israel agreed to officially transfer smart alert technologies to Ukraine.
When Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen visited Kyiv this year, followed by Knesset members Yuli Edelstein and Ze’ev Elkin, they confirmed this promise.
At the end of April, it was reported that Israel had installed an attack warning system in Kyiv and would test it in May.
