US President Joe Biden supports the International Criminal Court arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin who committed war crimes, the New York Times reports.
"I think it (the ICC arrest warrant for Putin – ed.) is justified. Putin has clearly committed war crimes," Biden said during a meeting with journalists at the White House.
The US president further emphasized that the decision of the court in The Hague to issue the warrant made "a very strong point."
He also noted that the United States is not a member of the ICC.
On Friday, March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova.
Representatives of various states and international organizations reacted to the ICC's decision. They were later joined by representatives of the United Kingdom and Canada, who unambiguously supported the court's position.
