I wouldn't advise Zelenskyy to agree to meeting with Putin - lawmaker Klympush-Tsintsadze
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should not agree to meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin even on the sensitive POW exchange issue
People's deputy Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said this on Espreso TV.
She answered the question whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should meet with Vladimir Putin in order to exchange prisoners of war.
"We have to understand that this is not because Putin dreams of meeting Zelenskyy. It is not his immediate plans, even if he really declared his readiness for negotiations. His vision of ending this war does not coincide with the need for our survival as a people and a state", she said.
She emphasized that Putin is categorically against this.
"Therefore, I would not advise agreeing to a meeting with the leader of the aggressor state, from which it would be necessary to come out with certain agreements or plans. There is no need to use such a tool. I think that there are others for extracting our prisoners of war. It is precisely these tools that we have now. I hope that the UN would be ready to get involved in this process as efficiently as possible, even though Russia's entire behavior undermines the existence, importance and effectiveness of the UN", Klympush-Tsintsadze said.
