I hope that during February Ramstein meeting there will be discussions about jets supply to Ukraine - diplomat Linkevičius

Diplomat and former Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius told Espreso whether Ukraine will receive F-16 fighters

The Lithuanian diplomat says that, although the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine is unfortunately very slow, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive everything they need to liberate the occupied territories.

“We all know that the support is going, but definitely going too slow and those self-inflicted red lines, I would say, they're also not helping. And that was from the very beginning. It was very very difficult to decide on the anti-tank weapons, later it was difficult to decide on HIMARS, and then on tanks. But I really hope that now time comes for a more resolute and consistent support, and I really hope that during the February Ramstein meeting there will be discussions about jets and long-range artillery, because that is what is needed to liberate the occupied and annexed Ukrainian territories and to end the war,” he noted.

At the same time, Linas Linkevičiusis is convinced that Western partners will eventually decide to supply F-16 fighters, as tanks were not originally on the transfer list either.

“I mean it's not yet. It is not yet, because the same thing happened with the supply of tanks.

So let's take it as tactical statements since pilots are already about to be trained, and it's a matter of time, but again time is a very important factor,” the former Foreign Affairs Minister concluded.
