Hungary threatens to block EU sanctions until Ukraine removes OTP Bank from the list of war sponsors
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó says that while the Hungarian OTP Bank in the Ukraine’s list of war sponsors, it will be difficult for Budapest to agree with the EU on new sanctions against Russia
Euronews reported the information.
"It is scandalous and unacceptable that OTP Bank was included in the list of international sponsors of the war in Ukraine. This is astonishing. It is outrageous. It is a scandal," Szijjártó said.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister said that the financial institution's activities comply with international standards and laws.
"I made it clear at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers that it is very difficult for us to even enter into negotiations on the 11th package of sanctions while OTP is on this Ukrainian list. We demand that the Ukrainians remove OTP from the list!" Szijjártó said.
