Hungary has no objection to Ukraine weapons transit - Lawmaker Szijjártó
The Hungarians are ready to allow Ukrainian aid, including weapons, provided by third parties to transit their territory, but Hungary itself will not supply its own weapons
This was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council with reference to the words of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Levente Madyar during a meeting with the Mayor of Lviv Andrii Sadovyi.
"Hungary itself will not supply its weapons - this is our strategic position. However, third countries can use our territory", he said.
In addition, Hungary is ready to accept Ukrainian children in its sanatoriums and camps. The Hungarian delegation also offered to help in the treatment of civilians and military personnel in their medical facilities, as well as assured of their readiness to provide 1,000 scholarships for Ukrainians in their universities.
"We are shocked by the events that are happening here, we really sympathize with you. Over the past 200 years, we have fought three times with Russia. These wars were not for life, but for death. Unlike many Western partners, we experienced firsthand what a confrontation is like", Madyar added.
Earlier, Hungary announced a ban on the transit of any aid to Ukraine through its territory. Such a decision was explained in the country by the fact that they do not want to endanger the Hungarians living in Zakarpattia.
