Hungarian politicians don't need to go to Bucha, they can remember the Soviet tanks in Budapest: expert Khara on blocking EU aid to Ukraine

Aleksandr Khara, an expert on foreign and security policy at the Center for Defense Strategies, believes that Hungarian politicians do not have to go to Ukraine to see the atrocities of the Russian forces, they just need to remember their own history

He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.

"Hungarian politicians do not need to go to Bucha to understand what the Russian army is doing in Ukraine. They only need to remember how Soviet tanks crushed freedom in Budapest during the Hungarian Revolution. They just need to remember their history. In addition, as for Hungary's position on Ukraine, every democratic country always faces a dilemma of what to choose, values or pragmatic interests. The same applies to the Hungarian authorities," explained Khara.

The security expert emphasized that the Orban government is guided only by its own interests.

"We see that today Hungary, led by Mr. Orban, does not choose democratic values, but is guided only by its own interests. Not only is the Hungarian government trying to block assistance to Ukraine and has banned the supply of military equipment through its territory to our country, but Orban is dismantling the remnants of legal mechanisms that protect the country from the usurpation of power. In other words, Hungary has problems inside the country, which, together with its attitude towards Ukraine, create a shameful situation," he added.
