Humeniuk speaks about Ukrainian strike on Chongar Bridge
Ukrainian forces continue attacks on Russian supply roads to hinder their plans. One recent example is the air strike on the Chongar Bridge by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the morning of July 29
Natalia Humeniuk, OC South spokeswoman, told about this during the telethon.
She noted that the work of the Defense Forces is aimed at destroying the enemy's plans, not destroying the infrastructure. The damage done to objects like the Chongar Bridge is done in order to reduce their traffic activity. Our military will also need them in the future.
“So, the work was done very carefully, precisely, and accurately, and now the occupiers are searching for new ways to supply their troops with ammunition, equipment, and reinforcements. On the left bank, the enemy is facing a shortage of ammunition and equipment due to our effective actions in combat,” she said.
She said that units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still engaging in counter-battery combat and clearing the enemy's positions on the left bank of the Dnipro.
Humeniuk mentioned that the Armed Forces are also taking control of all transportation and logistics routes that the enemy might use. The only thing that can hinder the Defense Forces is the presence of civilians, whom the Russians use to move around, sometimes mixing civilian vehicles with military equipment.
“This situation confuses the civilians because when they try to leave Crimea without using the well-known Crimean bridge, they attempt to go around the mainland but end up becoming hostages of the military equipment and conflict,” she added.
Chongar Bridge attack on July 29
On Saturday, July 29, the Defense Forces of Ukraine successfully attacked the Chongar Bridge. The Armed Forces' accomplishment was confirmed by StratCom later that evening.
Volodymyr Saldo, the acting governor of the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, first reported on the Armed Forces' attack on the Chongar Bridge.
He claimed that Storm Shadow missiles were used in the attack. However, he mentioned that all 12 missiles were apparently destroyed by the anti-aircraft defense, and the debris only caused damage to the patroller's cabin and the contact line.
Meanwhile, local residents stated on social media that passage through the occupied Chongar checkpoint was closed due to alleged technical reasons.
