Ukrainian parliament Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Supports Draft Resolution 7266 on Value of Freedom of Speech in Martial Law
Member of Ukrainian parliament Mykola Kniazhytskyi, representative of European Solidarity party and a member of the committee, told Media Detector about this.
According to Knyazhytsky, draft resolution "On the value of freedom of speech, guarantees for journalists and media during martial law" was supported by a majority of committee members.
Committee also appealed to National Security and Defense Council, RRT Concern, National Council and ICIP for clarification on the grounds on which Direct, Espresso and 5 Channel were excluded from the digital airwaves.
It is expected that at next meeting the committee will consider the issue of disconnection of channels, inviting representatives of broadcasters, as well as representatives of RRT concern, Ministry of Culture and National Council.
On April 4, RRT Concern shut down Espresso, Pramiy and 5 Channel from digital. TV channels sent letters to the President, National Security and Defense Council, Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Defense and National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting.
Channels ask President to intervene and protect "the right of journalists who are professionally fighting on information front to a profession and freedom of speech." They demand that RRT Concern resume broadcasting.
