Mickey Rourke raises $1 million to rebuild homes in Kherson

American actor, Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke, who expressed support for Putin in 2014, announced a $1 million fundraiser to support Kherson families

He announced this in a video message posted on Instagram.

71-year-old Hollywood actor and screenwriter Mickey Rourke is raising $1 million to rebuild houses destroyed by Russian shelling in Kherson.

"Hello everyone, Mickey is here. Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year ,especially to all people in Ukraine. Witnessing the hardships through my assistant Dima, from Mykolaiv, I’m deeply moved to support ‘One World Aid Alliance.’ Our goal is to rebuild homes in Kherson and bring safety to families enduring these tough times. We’re aiming to raise $1 million and every donation brings us closer to this goal," Rourke said.

He called on his followers to unite for the cause.

"Your support is invaluable," the actor added.

This was not always Mickey Rourke's position. In August 2014, he visited Moscow and demonstratively wore a T-shirt with a picture of Vladimir Putin. In the United States, he was criticized for supporting the Russian president.
