Help Ukraine, pressure Russia, and convene an international tribunal – PACE adopts resolution on Russian aggression
On Wednesday, April 27, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution "The consequences of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine: the role and responsibility of the Council of Europe"
Oleksiy Honcharenko, Ukrainian MP (European Solidarity) shared the news on Telegram.
“In the resolution, PACE calls what is happening an unprecedented attack on peace, security and international law, calls on all 45 Council of Europe countries to provide Ukraine with necessary assistance, to help all those forced to leave Ukraine because of the war, to continue to put pressure on Russia, Georgia, Moldova and Belarus," Honcharenko wrote.
PACE also urged the Council of Europe to support all the investigations into atrocities and crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine and to immediately establish an international tribunal on Russia's political and military leadership.
In addition, PACE supports the establishment of a Solidarity Fund for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction, creates the position of Council of Europe Special Representative on the consequences of Russian aggression, and calls on EU countries to divest energy dependence on Russia and fight Russian propaganda.
"Also, with my support, the Assembly holds the Lukashenko regime responsible for this war. The vote went: 143 - for, 1 - against," Honcharenko said.
