Head of Italian Foreign Ministry: EU may ask Ukraine to start talks with Russia if it stops shelling infrastructure

European countries may ask Ukraine to sit down for negotiations with Russia if its occupying forces stop shelling civilian infrastructure.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said this in the interview with Il Messaggero.

According to him, some world leaders are trying to ask European countries to soften their position in favour of negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. However, Tajani is sure that Ukraine will be able to start negotiations with the Russian Federation only if massive shelling stops.

"Agreement will be possible only if Russia decides to stop military actions if it decides to stop indiscriminate bombing of civilians and strategic objects. Only then can Europe ask Ukraine to start negotiations," the Italian minister said.
