Grain corridor. 40 vessels are checked without Russia and up to ten with it
The grain corridor is not operating at total capacity since inspectors from the Russian Federation are slowly checking grain carriers in the corridor
This was stated by Deputy Minister of infrastructure Yuriy Vaskov.
He noted that representatives of the Russian Federation in the Joint Coordination Center (SCC) in October of this year began to work more slowly and the number of inspections per day was reduced to seven or nine instead of 20.
As a result of the reduction of inspections, a queue of 210 vessels was formed. Half of them were loaded and waiting for review on the way out. Another half is at the entrance.
Vaskov also notes that when Russia suspended its participation in the "grain corridor", Turkey and the UN began checking ships with food on their own. During the day, on October 30, they released 46 vessels, and on October 31, another 39. On average, only 12 inspections are planned daily out of the required 25-30.
"Today, we have returned to the same problems. Joint inspections resumed. All four parties participate in the inspection. But they are now planned on average only 12 per day, of which 8-9 are completed. At the same time, the need is 25-30 per day," the deputy minister said.
On November 7, 88 grain carriers were waiting to enter Ukrainian ports. Another 18 vessels were waiting for the inspection to leave Turkish territorial waters.
During the three months of operation of the grain corridor, Ukraine exported 10.1 million tons of food.
"Our task is to increase this volume. At the end of October, 4.2 million tons were exported. If the inspections worked without delays, there would be at least 6 million tons per month. This is an accurate indicator that the corridor can give," Vaskov said.
