Mariupol City Council reported on the losses.

According to preliminary data, Russian troops have confirmed that they removed over 2,000 unique exhibits from Mariupol museums to temporarily occupied Donetsk.

The pieces taken include original works by Arkhip Kuindzhi and Ivan Aivazovsky, leading figures in landscape and marine art.

Russian forces also took ancient icons and a unique handwritten scroll. The Gospel dating from 1811 and over 200 medals from the Kharabet Museum of Medal Art were made by the Venetian printing house for the Mariupol Greeks.

Mariupol City Council is documenting its losses so that law enforcement agencies can start criminal proceedings and apply to Interpol.
