And for the remaining amount, 8.8 billion euros, Berlin will open credit lines for the period from 2024 to 2032. This means that Ukraine will have the right to receive and use the loan within the allotted period.
"With the money, Ukraine can directly buy armaments with the support of the German government. It is important to support Ukraine as long as necessary,"representatives of the German coalition government told the parliamentary budget committee.
A few days ago, Spiegel wrote that the German Finance Ministry sent a request to the Bundestag Budget Committee to increase military aid to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Finance explained that the Ukrainian army needs to be provided with reliable military equipment that meets its needs. To do this, numerous supply contracts should be concluded, which will establish payment obligations for the coming financial years.
The German ministry noted that it is planned to purchase air defense systems, armored tracked vehicles, as well as ammunition for artillery and other weapons supplied by Germany.
According to the German Foreign Ministry, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the German government has allocated more than 14.2 billion euros to support Ukraine.
Earlier on March 30, it was reported that the German Federal Government is launching a platform to support and strengthen Germany's commitment to Ukraine's recovery and to bring together government and non-government stakeholders.
