Germany is ready under certain circumstances to take in deserters from the Russian army and opponents of Putin's regime

"Deserters who face severe repression will receive international protection in Germany," German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. "Anyone who boldly opposes Putin's regime and therefore exposes himself to great danger can apply for asylum in Germany due to political persecution."
