General Staff's morning update: Russian forces flee following  Ukrainian Armed Forces action in Kramatorsk direction

The 172nd day of Ukraine's heroic resistance to the Russian military invasion has begun

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces published operational information as of 06:00 on August 14.

In the Volyn, Polissya, Siversk directions, the situation hasn't changed significantly. 

"In the Siversk direction, the rotation of units of the Russian Western Military District continues. The enemy continues shelling border settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation with barrel artillery", Ukraine's Armed Forces added. 

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian occupiers continued firing from barrel and rocket artillery along the contact line, maintaining a high intensity of aerial reconnaissance by UAVs.

"The Russian invaders tried to carry out combat reconnaissance in the area of ​​Pytomnyk settlement, but were unsuccessful, suffered losses, and retreated. They launched airstrikes near Peremoha, Rtyshchyvka, and Pytomnyk. They are taking measures to provide logistical support to their units and replenish losses", Ukrainian military said.

In the Slovyansk direction, the Russians launched fire damage from tanks and rocket artillery near Brazhkivka, Bohorodychne, and Dolyna.

"In the Dolyna area, the Russians tried to break through the defense of our units. The senseless assault was repulsed by Ukrainian soldiers", the General Staff noted.

In the Donetsk direction, the invading Russian forces fired at Ukrainian units from tanks, barrel, and rocket artillery. With the purpose of reconnaissance of logistics support routes and critical infrastructure facilities, they conducted aerial reconnaissance by UAVs. 

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian occupiers launched airstrikes near Spirne. They made an attempt to reconnoitre by fighting in the Serebrianka area, but after being hit by fire from Ukrainian soldiers, they managed to escape. The Russians tried to improve the tactical position in the vicinity of Spirne with assault actions, but were unsuccessful and retreated. Fighting continues in the Ivano-Darivka region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy fired artillery and tanks at the civilian infrastructure of settlements and the positions of the defense forces.

"Russian forces launched airstrikes in the areas of Soledar and Vesela Dolyna. They conducted operational-tactical aerial reconnaissance by UAVs. They made an attempt to conduct combat reconnaissance near Soledar, but suffered fire damage and fled. The Russian invaders conducted offensive operations in the Zaitseve area, but were unsuccessful and withdrew. The fighting continues", the General Staff wrote.

In the Avdiivka direction, in addition to shelling a number of settlements with artillery, the Russian occupiers launched airstrikes near Marinka. The invading Russian forces continued aerial reconnaissance by UAVs. They led assaults in the direction of Krasnohorivka and Pisky, but were unsuccessful and withdrew. Fighting continues in the area of ​​Pervomaisk settlement.

In the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, the Russian aggressors did not stop shelling from barrel and jet artillery and tanks along the contact line.

"The Russians used aviation near Prechystivka and Vuhledar. They conducted aerial reconnaissance of the operational-tactical level by UAVs. They made an attempt to conduct reconnaissance by combat in the area of ​​the settlement of Prechystivka, after being hit by fire and withdrew. The Russian launched an offensive in the area of ​​​​the settlement of Pavlivka, combat operations continued. They deployed and actively used radio-electronic warfare complexes", Ukrainian military added.

In the Southern Bug direction, the main efforts of Russian forces are focused on maintaining the occupied positions. The enemy continues reconnaissance by UAVs. The Russians conducted shelling from barrel and rocket artillery and tanks along the entire line of contact.

In the water areas of the Black and Azov seas, the Russian naval group continues to perform the task of supporting the ground group of troops and blocking the northwestern part of the Black Sea.

The General Staff also noted that there is still a threat of missile strikes on critical infrastructure facilities on the territory of Ukraine.

"Ukrainian missile and artillery units are firing at command posts, accumulations of equipment and field ammunition depots of the Russian forces. The losses of the Russian occupiers are being specified. We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! We will win together! Glory to Ukraine!", the General Staff concluded.
