General Staff assumes that Russia may renew attack on Kyiv from Belarusian territory
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff suggests that the Russian forces may try to attack Kyiv again, using the territory of Belarus as a springboard
General Oleksii Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, said this at a briefing.
“We do not rule out that the Russian forces may again attack Kyiv. First of all, they feel that they cannot break through the front either in the southern or eastern direction. One of the options for the so-called overthrow of the constitutional system of Ukraine is the capture of Kyiv and the liquidation of the military-political leadership,” Hromov said.
According to the representative of the General Staff, Ukraine's Armed Forces are ready for such a development.
“We anticipate that the enemy may attack primarily from the Republic of Belarus. It may be from the territory of the Chornobyl zone, as well as from the Chernihiv region. We are ready for this, but at the moment we do not see a threat that the enemy will attack directly,” Hromov emphasized.
The representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff added that enemy attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities are now more expected.

Earlier, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, assessed the threat of an invasion from Belarus as extremely low.
