This decrease primarily affects Gazprom, as reported by Russian media. Since the beginning of the year, access to resource extraction statistics has been limited for the Russian concern.
In the first quarter, the production volume of "other subsoil users," which closely reflects Gazprom's production, declined by 18% to 117 billion cubic meters. In March, it further dropped by 18% to 39 billion cubic meters. Gazprom-neft also experienced a significant reduction in production, with an 18% decline to 8.6 billion cubic meters in the first quarter and a 22% decrease to 2.3 billion cubic meters in March.
The decrease in gas production is attributed directly to the reduction in Gazprom's supplies to EU countries following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Currently, deliveries are only being made through the Turkish Stream and, to a minimal extent, through the natural gas transmission system of Ukraine. Gazprom is attempting to increase exports to China from deposits in Eastern Siberia, but these volumes are currently incomparable to former supplies to Europe.
