G7 foreign ministers to meet on Ukraine in Munich
The first meeting of G7 representatives in 2023 will be held on February 17-19 in Munich. It will focus on unity with Ukraine on the anniversary eve of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion
This was reported by the Japan Today publication.
It is noted that at the planned meeting, the ministers will reaffirm their solidarity with Ukraine in putting pressure on Russia to stop its aggression.
The foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the European Union are also expected to discuss the importance of maintaining an international order based on the rule of law.
The publication writes that the meeting will be chaired by Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
Japan Today states the G7 countries maintain economic sanctions against Moscow, imposed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. These include freezing the assets of Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, and disconnecting Russian banks from the key international payment system.
