G7 agrees to create “coordination mechanism” to help Ukraine restore and protect its critical infrastructure
Foreign ministers of G7 countries pledge to help Ukraine “repair, restore and defend its critical energy and water infrastructure”
In the joint statement the ministers said:
"We will stand firmly with Ukraine for as long as it takes. Today we establish a G7 coordination mechanism to help Ukraine repair, restore and defend its critical energy and water infrastructure," the G7 foreign ministers said.
They also condemned Russia's attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, across Ukraine using missiles and Iranian drones.
Earlier, during a visit to Kyiv, EU energy commissioner Kadri Simson said that the European Union, together with its partners, is studying ways to increase aid to the energy sector of Ukraine.
According to her, Ukraine needs special equipment and tools to repair damage to its energy infrastructure. It is necessary to urge foreign companies to give priority attention to the transfer of energy equipment to Ukraine.
