French government gives Ukraine DNA lab
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced it is giving Ukraine a mobile laboratory for express DNA analysis for Ukraine to use in the process of investigating Russian war crimes
This was reported by European Pravda.
"On July 14, 2022, the Center for Crisis Support and Support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine with a new mobile laboratory for express DNA analysis and examination. This laboratory, financed by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, is a designed device that has no analogues in the world of genetics. This system allows rapid genetic analysis of a large number of biological samples. It was developed by the French company TRACIP (Deveryware group) together with the IRCGN, an expert in victim identification (sampling and DNA processing) and evidence collection," the French Foreign Ministry notes.
The department also emphasized that as a sign of solidarity with Ukrainians, France "will continue to support the fight against impunity" in Ukraine.
French media also report that a laboratory similar to the one handed over to Ukraine was used, in particular, during the Germanwings plane crash in the French Alps in 2015 and in the context of the terrorist attack in Nice on July 14, 2016.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the donation of the mobile laboratory during his visit to Ukraine in June.
