Former CIA chief names conditions for ending war in Ukraine
Ukraine's successes on the battlefield, combined with the effect of economic sanctions against Russia, could lead to the end of the war

The CIA Director (2011-2012), General David Petraeus, said this during the Kyiv Security Forum. His statement was published by the Forum’s official website.
“Of course, this war will not end soon, unless the Russian troops are completely defeated,” he said.
“Anyway, Ukraine will continue to liberate its territories, and at a certain point, the combination of the situation on the battlefield and economic sanctions and export controls will convince the majority in Russia that this war cannot be continued,” David Petraeus emphasized.
The general noted that then Russia will have to withdraw its troops. The country has already lost more people in 9 months of war in Ukraine than in 10 years of war in Afghanistan.
