Forbes experts estimate how many Soviet missiles remain in Russia
Russia still has more than 2,000 old X-55 and X-22 missiles stockpiled. This could last the Russian army several months, Forbes reports
There were about 7,000 of this type of missile left in Russia at the start of its war against Ukraine. They are short- and medium-range missiles - covering up to 5,500 kilometers. Half of them are Soviet X-22 and X-55 missiles, which are not highly accurate.
Forbes experts noted that during the first stage of the war, the Russian Federation used modern Kalibr-type sea-based missiles and Iskander missile complexes for attacks. The Russian invaders also launched X-101 and X-47 Kinzhal missiles on the territory of Ukraine. However, the stock of this weapon was small, about 2,000-3,000 units, so they began to run out quickly.
Later, the Russians began using older missiles - Forbes notes.
Information about the first use appeared in May. In the third month of the war, the Russians launched Soviet X-59 missiles over Ukraine. Although they are highly accurate, they have a short range of 300 kilometers. Therefore, they cannot cause great destruction.
It is noted that the old version of the X-55 missiles and the X-555 modification operate at a longer distance, but they are not highly accurate. The circular deviation is 20-100 meters.
The situation is similar with the X-22 missiles - they are destructive and were created for the task of nuclear strikes, but have very low accuracy indicators, - the media adds.
